The Louisville Urban League Sports & Learning Campus, home to the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center and the Humana Outdoor Track & Field, is excited to celebrate its first anniversary! We are so proud of this facility and what we have been able to accomplish in such a short period of time, while still in the midst of a pandemic. One year ago, we opened our doors and just a year later, ESPN televised its first live broadcast from our facility! Our vision–one embraced by so many across this city–is a reality.
This campus is a testament to what is possible when we invest in bold dreams. Throughout our inaugural year, even in a pandemic, we have hosted athletes and spectators from around the world and across the country, and from all over Kentucky. Right alongside world-class athleticism, the campus has been used to elevate and uplift the Louisville Urban League’s work across our five pillars of Jobs, Justice, Education, Health, and Housing. Events and initiatives touching all of these strategic areas have taken place here – Norton Healthcare Job Interviews, a Youth Entrepreneur Showcase, expungement training for lawyers, the Urban League’s Street Academy youth programming, blood drives, the Good Food Louisville’s Farmer’s Market, the USA Track & Field Run Jump Throw event, the Russell: A Place of Promise Homecoming Celebration, the Leadership Louisville Annual Luncheon, and the list goes on.
This is only the beginning of what is possible, and none of it could happen without the many individuals and organizations who believed so much in this project that they were willing to give in amounts great and small to see it happen. We cannot thank you enough for believing in us.
