WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Whatcom is among three Washington counties that now face lawsuits over voting fraud claims during the 2020 election.
The lawsuits are targeted at Whatcom, Snohomish, and Clark Counties, and plaintiffs want a full investigation into ballots and voting equipment used during the contentious election cycle.
But the only Republican holding statewide office, Secretary of State Kim Wyman, told KGMI before last year’s election that there’s no reason to doubt our system’s integrity.
“Ultimately, if someone wants to commit voter fraud or rob a bank, they can. We have things on the back end to prosecute that action,” says Wyman. “That’s really what this is about. Our state has done a good job of balancing access and security and I’m proud of it.”
The group called Washington Election Integrity Coalition United, pronounced WeSeeU, disagrees and is taking the helm on the latest lawsuits.
They’re enlisting community members in the three counties to sign on as co-plaintiffs.
In each suit, county auditors are being accused of neglecting their own duties by allowing voting results to be manipulated electronically.
The coalition aims to conduct an investigation similar to the audit that’s been going on for months in Arizona.
