For over a week I have been stewing over an article in The Intelligencer about a Pennsylvanian congressman, Doug Mastriano, R-33. He desires to challenge the results of the 2020 elections alleging voter fraud and a stolen presidency, even after ex-president Trump’s own experts state that the 2020 election was one of the most secure in my country’s history.

Why, Mr. Mastriano, do you insist on ripping open the scab on a healing nation?

So, let’s make a deal, let’s put our political parties where our mouths are. I am not a wealthy person, so monetary stakes are not at my disposal. But political affiliation is, the heart of this national soap opera.

I propose this: Mr. Mastriano you prove to me, beyond doubt, that the 2020 election was tampered with so greatly that it changed the results of who should be president. Do that, congressman, and I will immediately change my 47-year relationship with the Democratic Party.

I will “fight like hell” to have Mr. Trump reinstated as president. I will stand shoulder to shoulder with you to see that criminal charges are filed, that arrests, convictions and punishments are given to those responsible for this blow to democracy.

But the other half of this proposal is: If you cannot produce this evidence of tampering — already in its ninth month — you publicly admit you have been perpetuating a lie and vow to change. You will promote this among your party.

If you are unable to or prefer not to, Mr. Mastriano, resign. I would suggest this to all your party members who support the lie. And just in case you’ve not noticed, while you push your bad-election agenda, foreign countries are taking advantage of the U.S., because we don’t have our eye on the ball.

We need a united American people and live up to my — and hopefully your — belief that we are the greatest country in the world.
