Senator Ed
McBroom
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Board is supporting state Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Waucedah Township, for “honest communications” and “unwavering integrity” in his role as chairman of the senate’s Oversight Committee, which recently confirmed results of the 2020 election after an eight-month investigation into alleged fraud.
“You have accepted a difficult undertaking and received tremendous criticism all the while maintaining professionalism and a true stalwart work ethic,” the board said in a letter to McBroom dated July 26.
“We are truly appreciative for your honesty, integrity and dedication to your duties,” the letter concludes.
The Oversight Committee found no evidence of widespread or systematic election fraud in Michigan’s 2020 presidential election won by Democrat Joe Biden.
“Our clear finding is that citizens should be confident the (2020 election) results represent the true results of the ballots cast by the people of Michigan,” McBroom wrote when the report was released in June. The senator suggested that people who have “pushed demonstrably false theories for their own personal gain” be prosecuted.
The county board’s letter makes no direct mention of the election probe, which has been ridiculed by former President Donald Trump as “a coverup.” Trump alleges that “corrupt” politicians are wrong in saying Michigan had no voter fraud.
The county’s letter in support of McBroom was recommended by Commissioner John Degenaer Jr., the only Democrat, with four Republican members also signing on, including Chairman Henry Wender.
